Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information ReelSaver ("we", "us") handles when you use our website and web app, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.

1. What we collect

Links and usernames you submit. When you paste an Instagram link or a username, we send it to a third-party data provider (Apify) to fetch the publicly available video, photos, story, caption and hashtags. We never ask for your Instagram login or password, and we cannot access private accounts.
Temporary saved results. To make repeat requests faster and cheaper, we keep the fetched result (media links, caption, hashtags, username) for a short time: about 1 hour for reels and posts, and about 5 minutes for stories.
IP address. We use your IP address to count free daily downloads and to prevent abuse. The counter expires after 24 hours. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs that include IP addresses.
Text for the comment writer. If you use the Comments tool, the text you enter (for example a reel caption) is sent to an AI provider (Anthropic) to write suggestions. We do not store that text. Please do not enter personal or sensitive information.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location (such as country), and actions such as pressing Save or Download. We do not collect your name or email through analytics.
Data stored on your device. Your recent links, thumbnails and recently searched story usernames are kept in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us. You can remove them with the "Clear history" button or by clearing your browser data. The app also keeps a copy of its own files so it loads quickly.

2. Cookies and advertising

Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies to measure use of the site. We may show ads from third-party networks such as Google AdSense. These vendors may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com or aboutads.info, and you can block cookies in your browser settings. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before using analytics or advertising cookies.

3. How we use information

To provide and improve the service, including fetching the media you request.
To limit free usage fairly and prevent abuse.
To measure traffic and fix problems.
To show ads that help pay for the service.
To respond to messages and legal requests.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We use service providers who process data for us: Netlify (hosting), Upstash (temporary storage for saved results and usage counters), Apify (fetching public Instagram data), Anthropic (writing comment suggestions) and Google (analytics and, if enabled, advertising). We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights and users.

5. How long we keep it

Saved results expire within minutes to an hour. Usage counters expire after 24 hours. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics settings. Server logs are kept by our host for a limited period.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we collect very little that identifies you, there is usually little to delete, but you can contact us at YOUR-EMAIL@example.com and we will help.

7. Children

ReelSaver is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Third-party content and links

Videos, photos, stories and captions belong to their creators and to Instagram. We do not host them. Our site may link to other websites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

9. Security

We use HTTPS and limit what we store, but no system is completely secure.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
